Decisions That Don’t Feel Like Decisions

There are times when a decision does not feel like a decision.

Nothing is explicitly asked of you. No one insists. The situation appears open, even flexible. And yet, one direction begins to feel more natural than the others.

It is not always clear when this begins. There is no single moment where a choice is made. It feels more like continuing along what already seems reasonable.

Certain options appear practical. Others seem unnecessary, or difficult to justify. Without much resistance, one path is taken, then another. Each step makes sense on its own.

Over time, the direction settles.

Looking back, it is not easy to point to when it was chosen. It never felt like a firm decision. It felt like moving forward in a way that did not disturb anything.

Only later does it become easier to see how much was shaped by what was never clearly spoken — expectations that were understood without being said, a sense of what should be done, a quiet preference for what keeps things stable.

There is no sharp realisation.

Just a gradual recognition that some parts of life are not chosen directly.

They are entered, slowly, by continuing.
