Sometimes a dream stays long after waking.
Not because it is vivid or unusual, but because it leaves behind a feeling that seems strangely familiar.
At first, the mind tries to understand it as though it were a message. A prediction. A puzzle waiting to be solved.
Over time, another possibility begins to appear.
Perhaps the dream is not pointing towards the future at all.
Perhaps it is quietly gathering together a major emotional part of the life we have been living.
The events within the dream may never have happened. Yet the feelings often have.
Experiences that seemed separate while awake — hopes, disappointments, relationships, fears, or longings — briefly find themselves belonging to the same inner world.
Looking back, it becomes possible to see that some dreams do not explain our lives.
They quietly gather together truths we have already been living.
No single dream can hold everything.
Each dream seems to gather a different part of our inner life. And sometimes that is enough to help us recognise something we had been living without fully seeing.
Perhaps this is why certain dreams remain with us.
Not because they tell us what will happen next.
But because they help us recognise what has already been quietly true.
